Perched at an altitude of 2,000 meters, surrounded by lush mountains and coffee trees, Salento is a small town in Colombia where life is good.

One comes to breathe a relaxing, serene, and benevolent atmosphere conferred by the human warmth of its inhabitants.

In the heart of the famous coffee triangle, Salento is also the gateway to the fabulous Cocora Valley. In this valley, the famous wax palms plunge you into a striking environment. Landscapes of a rare harmony completed by cloud forests surrounded by the Andean peaks.

A sensory experience to complete with a coffee tasting in a hacienda where you can taste the best wines of the country.

2- The desert of La Guajira

The desert of La Guajira, less known to the travelers, is a quasi-desert land where the dunes and the Caribbean Sea merge.

An indescribable landscape with spectacular color contrasts.

A stage out of the beaten tracks will be the occasion to benefit from virgin beaches, to practice kitesurfing, or even to meet the most important indigenous community of Colombia: the Wayuu.

These people struggle to keep their ancestral traditions alive… A meeting is necessary to understand their way of life and their culture!

3- Tayrona National Park

Looking for new landscapes? Tayrona National Park is on everyone’s mind when preparing a trip to Colombia.

Tayrona, a pride of Colombians, is endowed with an atypical ecosystem. The preserved forest, rich in animal and plant species, descends the slopes of the Sierra Nevada to flow into the Caribbean Sea.

Tayrona is deserved! You will have to hike through the forest to reach the paradisiacal beach of Cabo San Juan. It will then be time to enjoy a good swim. Be careful with the current which can be violent on this part of the coast.

It is also possible to visit sanctuaries in the park. In particular the ruined village of Pueblito, where the Tayronas people (Kogis, Kankuamos, Wiwas, and Arhuacos) continue to gather for their ceremonies.

4- Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta: the Lost City

The Lost City trek is far from a classic mountain trek, where you can simply enjoy the landscapes and the surrounding nature.

This trek takes you to the heart of the history of the indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. You will be able to feel the magic of the Tayrona ancestral culture.

The Lost City is to be deserved! You will reach it after 4 to 5 days of walking through the rainforest to the ancient sacred archaeological site of Teyuna. You hike in the “heart of the world” in a virgin and protected nature. An extraordinary experience!

Be careful though: it is a 50 km trek, on mountain paths, under heat and humidity that can be very tiring.

But isn’t it said that the best secrets are the best kept?

5- Mount Serrat

And why not take a little height?

Perched above Bogota, Mount Serrat offers a magnificent 360° view of the Colombian capital.

You can get there on foot (about 2 hours walk) by cable car or, our favorite, by funicular!

The view from the top is breathtaking! We advise you to go to Mount Serrat in the early morning or at sunset to better appreciate the variations in light and the calm surrounding.
