8 Must-See Beautiful Beaches To Discover In Ibiza

The island of Ibiza, a world-famous destination for its vibrant nightlife and its dreamy natural setting, has a reputation that no longer needs to be proven. But this Balearic island is also, and above all, known for its paradisiacal beaches, sometimes nestled in the heart of exceptional natural reserves. Here is our selection of the 8 most beautiful beaches to discover in Ibiza.

1- Cala d’En Serra

Isolated from mass tourism, the small beach of Cala d’En Serra is a real secret treasure with golden sand, located only a few kilometers from the Portinatx cove. Often deserted, it is an ideal playground for snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiasts, who can discover lush fauna and flora. Beware of slippery bottoms: bring good shoes if you want to swim.

Access to the beach is quite difficult and not recommended for children and people with reduced mobility. It takes about 20 minutes to walk downhill. At the end of the walk, it’s guaranteed tranquility!

2- Cala Benirras

The beach of Cala Benirras is a privileged place for the hippie community. It offers a peaceful and preserved natural setting, close to many amenities (shops, hotels…). It is also bordered by pine forests, mountains, and small atypical huts that give it an authentic and bohemian look. Holidaymakers particularly appreciate its warm, clear, and shallow water, as well as the sensational view of the islet Cap Bernat.

As night approaches, many tourists flock to watch the spectacular sunset from the beach. Cala Benirras’ west-facing position makes it a perfect spot for sunbathing in the afternoon and enjoying a magical natural show in the evening. To liven up this unforgettable moment, some vacationers even organize small concerts and improvised campfires.

3- En Marti Beach (Pou d’es Lleo)

En Marti beach, also known as Pou d’es Lleo (“Lion’s Well”), is a small haven of peace and absolute tranquility, even in high season. The atmosphere is more intimate than the large tourist areas of the island and is ideal for a romantic moment by the sea. From the beach, you can see Tagomago Island and the Torre d’En Valls, a defensive tower that faced pirate attacks in the past.

Pou d’es Lleo has located about 5 km from the village of Sant Carles de Peralta. It is easy to reach by car and is located in the middle of a protected area where fauna and flora abound. Surrounded by small fishing huts, it has a unique charm.

Finally, the beach of En Marti is made for snorkeling enthusiasts: warm and clear water, little exposure to the wind, luxuriant aquatic fauna and flora… However, bring sandals to avoid injuries on the sometimes slippery and sharp rocks.

4- Aigues Blanques

Located a few kilometers from the charming village of Sant Carles de Peralta, the beach of Aigues Blanques is considered by many to be one of the wildest on the island. Nicknamed “white water beach” because of its crystal clear water, this small cove of fine sand is the ideal place to spend the day with your family. Although the sea is quite rough, it is shallow and supervised during the summer season. Parents will be able to let their children have fun in the waves with complete peace of mind.

Despite the wild setting of Aigues Blanques, 2 small snack bars almost blend into the scenery. There are also a few restaurants in the vicinity.

Finally, it is recommended to go to Aigues Blanques preferably in the morning, because the orientation of the beach hides the sun in the afternoon. An area is also dedicated to naturists.

5- Cala Pada

To the south of Cala Llenya, just 3 km from Santa Eulalia del Rio, is the fine sandy beach of Cala Pada. Like the previous one, it is shaded by pine trees and has sparkling water with a gentle slope, sheltered from strong currents. However, this beach is much less crowded than Cala Llenya but also smaller.

Perfect for families, Cala Pada allows the practice of various water sports such as windsurfing, parasailing, windsurfing, and scuba diving. Finally, there is a choice of 3 restaurants with shaded terraces on the waterfront.

6- Cala Llenya

Not far from the tourist town of Santa Eulalia del Rio, we find the beach of Cala Llenya. This large sandy area of more than 90 meters wide, very popular with the locals, is an ideal spot for the practice of beach sports (beach soccer, frisbee, beach volleyball …) and water sports (snorkeling, paddle …). Very close to the Cala Nova campsite, one of the few on the island, Cala Llenya has many advantages such as its pine forest border, a natural barrier against the overpowering Ibiza sun, but also its shallow and calm water that will delight children and reassure parents. Finally, this family beach is supervised in summer and easily accessible by car or bus.

7- Cala d’Hort

For a wilder spirit, head to the beach of Cala d’Hort. Located in a nature reserve, it offers an exceptional setting to its visitors: white sand, cliffs, turquoise water, and an exceptional view of the islet of Es Vedra, classified as a “nature reserve” since 2002. It is probably one of the most beautiful panoramas of Ibiza.

The beach of Cala d’Hort has also been awarded the “blue flag” in recognition of its cleanliness and its commitment to the preservation of the environment. Indeed, it’s a natural setting of rare purity that hosts many species of plants and birds.

Moreover, snorkeling and diving enthusiasts will certainly appreciate the clarity of the water and the presence of rocks and cliffs. It is hard to find better conditions to practice this activity.

And if you forget your snack, you can always stop at one of the 3 restaurants near Cala d’Hort. You can enjoy the delicious traditional Mediterranean cuisine, including seafood, with a splendid view of the bay.

The only drawback is that the beach is often crowded with tourists: we advise you to go in the morning, or in the late afternoon to avoid the big crowd and the strong heat. You will also be able to discover small secret coves, much less frequented but just as beautiful in the surroundings.

8- Cala Moli

If you want to bask in the sun in complete tranquillity, you should go to Cala Moli beach. This wild cove, untouched by umbrellas and private deckchairs, is one of the few on the island to enjoy a moderate number of visitors, even during the summer. However, it is considered a “natural heritage” by the San José City Council, and its scenery of cliffs, escars (traditional boat shelters), and pine forests are worthy of a postcard.

The beach of Cala Moli is also a perfect playground for snorkeling enthusiasts: its clear water, very calm, is full of fish of all kinds. However, you will need to bring your shoes if you want to swim: the rocky bottom can be embarrassing if you go barefoot.
